After Mealime, your week's meals, without the hassle.
ioumi plans your week and your shopping list, and tells you what the week will cost before you shop. Mealime, the North American menu app, closes on 21 October 2026 according to its publisher's announcement. If you're looking for somewhere to pick up your routine again and you cook in France, here is what ioumi does the same way and what it doesn't.

What Mealime did
Mealime is a mobile app (iOS, Android) in English, published from North America and built around quick, simple meal plans: you pick recipes for the week, the app generates the shopping list and adjusts the portions. A paid tier, Mealime Pro, added nutritional information and more personalisation, among other things. According to its publisher's announcement, the service shuts down on 21 October 2026.
Its French users liked its simplicity and speed above all; its limits, for a household in France, came down to the language, the North American recipes and units, and the lack of any notion of budget.
What ioumi does
ioumi is a French app: it's on the App Store for iPhone, and opens in the browser on Android and on a computer, where it can be added to the home screen. It plans the week around your diet and your tastes, then works out the shopping list by aisle, pantry included. It also estimates the cost of the basket and of each meal, with French recipes and French retailers. It shows no advertising and takes nothing from your shopping. Your data can be exported at any time.

Who ioumi is a good alternative for, and who it isn't
ioumi makes sense if…
- you cook in France with local products and retailers, whatever your language;
- what you liked in Mealime was the simplicity of “I pick, the list makes itself”: ioumi does the same, with the budget on top;
- you want to know what the week costs before you shop;
- your household mixes diets or has several people in it;
- you want an app whose data doesn't vanish along with its publisher: JSON export at any time.
Look elsewhere if…
- you live outside France: ioumi's prices and retailers are French ones, whatever the language;
- you want North American recipes in imperial units;
- you're on Android and you want an app installed from Google Play today (ioumi gets there next).
Switching from Mealime to ioumi
There is no automatic import from Mealime, as the two apps share no common format. Allow half an hour, in three steps.
- Gather your favourite recipes. From Mealime, note down or copy the recipes you actually make again (the link to the original recipe when there is one, otherwise the text: title, ingredients, steps). Around ten is enough to start; the rest can be added over the weeks.
- Import them into ioumi. Recipes → Import a recipe: paste the link or paste the text. ioumi pre-fills the form (title, ingredients, quantities, steps); you check and save. Ingredients are linked to the price table so the budget can take them into account.
- Set up your household again. Your profile, with your diet and allergies, is set in the Profile tab. Then fill in the week, by hand or with an automatic suggestion.
Your data in ioumi can be exported at any time (full JSON, shopping list as a PDF), so you can take it with you if you ever change tools.
Common questions
Mealime is closing: what happens to my plans and recipes?
As far as we know, the service will stop working on 21 October 2026. Before that date, save the recipes you want to keep (link, text or screenshot): they can be imported into ioumi from a link or text.
Is ioumi available in English?
Yes. The app and its recipes come in French, English and Spanish: they follow your phone's language, and you can switch in Settings. Prices and retailers are still French ones.
Mealime generated shopping lists: does ioumi too?
Yes, and it goes further: the list is sorted by aisle, adds up the quantities, takes off what you already have in the pantry and shows an estimated total. It stays available offline in the shop.
How much does ioumi cost?
The core is free and needs no card: this week and next, the full list, an unlimited pantry, one profile. The Premium offer is paused for now.
Get your routine back before 21 October.
Look at the week ioumi suggests for you, then import your favourite recipes from a link or text.
